Maryland Department of Health
SMD HEAT has partnered with Maryland Department of Health
to create a campaign called the "Stay in the Game" Health Tips for Young Athletes. The campaign has a focus on helping young athletes to take care of their bodies with an emphasis on not smoking or vaping.
Maryland Head Start Association (MHSA)
SMD HEAT supports MHSA in advocate for the needs of Head Start families and staff by providing linkages to programs and resources that will support MHSA linkages.
SMD HEAT looks forward to growing the partnership to support Head Start and Early Childhood Education programs thorughout the state of Maryland.
Charles County Public Schools
Each year the Charles County Public School system (CCPS) allows us to use several school gyms, cafeterias, and sometimes classrooms to hold practices, training, meetings, and workshops.
SMD HEAT has held other programs with such as NFL Punt Pass and Kick, MLB Hit, Pitch and Run, and after-school programming.
College of Southern Maryland (CSM)
SMD HEAT has partnered with the CSM to hold basketball tournaments, camps, and practices. Coaches and players address teams to help them understand the athletic and academic college requirements.
Nursing students have visited teams and other SMD HEAT members to provide health check-ups that include vision screenings, height and weights, dental education and other forms of health education.
USA Basketball Youth Development
Our coaches are certified with USA Basketball Gold Certifications. USA Basketball provides professional development, coaching tools, and sports-based youth development curriculum.
